“All the independents are family. There’s not an animosity about anything”, says indie stalwart Andrew Lundy, Vino Wines founder and director. During Harpers’ week-long visit to Auld Reekie, conviviality and a collective spirit flowed throughout the entire Edinburgh drinks scene – indies championing local brands; spirits bottlers using local brewers’ casks to age whisky; and distillery shops stocking ‘rival’ distillers’ single malts.
